Sharedien AG is a Swiss-based provider of cloud-based digital asset management (DAM) solutions that go beyond traditional DAM. With a smart and intelligent content operating system, Sharedien combines Content management, content hubs, workspaces, brand portals, and digital rights management into one seamless platform. Their mission is to empower brands worldwide to tell consistent and compelling stories by transforming the way digital content is created, managed, and delivered.

One of their primary solutions for customers is a digital asset and content management (DAM) platform, which allows companies to organize, store, retrieve, and manage assets in a centralized repository.

Metadata and tagging play a crucial role in DAM systems by organizing assets and ensuring they can be easily found when needed. However, poor, missing, and outdated metadata is common across all industries and becomes especially risky with larger companies that manage diverse and numerous assets.

One Sharedien customer, a global consumer goods manufacturer, was struggling to organize their assets, which were increasing at a substantial rate. In order to use their DAM platform, they were manually extracting and adding classifying information to assets, resulting in considerable time investment, higher operational costs, and potential for human error. These inefficiencies hindered their ability to scale, reduced time-to-market, and limited the value of DAM generally.

To remain competitive and deliver greater value to their clients, the consumer goods company partnered up with Sharedien, their solution provider for digital asset and content management and the AI Co-Innovation Labs to develop an innovative, AI-driven solution that automates and streamlines these processes.

In the Lab

In collaboration with the Lab team, Sharedien developed an AI-based prototype that automates metadata tagging by leveraging AI-driven extraction and semantic analysis of product asset data, enabling dynamic tagging of both new and existing assets with relevant metadata.

To support this process, the team integrated Azure OpenAI Service (GPT-4o) with complementary Azure services, including Azure AI Document Intelligence and Azure AI Content Understanding, to ensure accuracy.

This solution is truly innovative because it can take unstructured data from multiple document format types and apply a consistent, scalable AI-driven workflow to create meaningful information critical to running a DAM platform. This solution is ideal for complex marketing scenarios where organizations deal with large volumes of varying types of data and assets.

The extensive industry expertise of Sharedien’s team combined with the AI Co-Innovation Lab team’s experience in Microsoft AI solutions resulted in an effective prototype built on Azure AI and designed with the global standard for product classification, so Sharedien could integrate the solution with their own data model.

The close collaboration between these cross-functional teams significantly accelerated the software development process, reducing it to just a few days.

Sharedien projects this new DAM solution could save their customers millions on reduced manual work hours, or 10-25% on operations costs. The Azure AI powered, gen AI solution enables efficient data extraction, analysis, and tagging from a variety of document formats, significantly reducing manual workload.
